Taxifast has recently invested over £800,000 in new technology to provide the Plymouth area with an effective, efficient and ecology conscious control and dispatch system.
The policy drive behind the system is to provide an on demand taxi service in the most cost effective way. From the telephone call to the completion of the journey.
The first point of entry into the Taxifast service is usually by way of a telephone call. Taxifast technology provides you the customer with choices. If you have used us before and your phone number and address is on record then you will be recognized and automatically given a choice of using our “PRESS ONE” service. In simple terms if you require a taxi right away at the address the automated voice tells you then just press 1. From that point the Taxifast technology searches out the nearest taxi for you and advises the driver of your requirements by giving them the information on a screen in their car. This method of ordering a taxi is extremely secure and reliable.
If your booking isn’t for “right away” then just press 2 and an operator will handle your other needs. The Taxifast technology incorporates GPS (Global Positioning by Satellite) that is able to track our taxis journey. Computers in Taxifast House are always updating vehicle positions and driver status on a continuous basis. This means that Taxifast can see every operational Taxifast taxi on the streets of Plymouth, watch its progress, know its destination, estimate its drop off time and then collate all that information through powerful computer software. Taxifast have already seen a 20% saving in fuel burned by its taxis under the new Taxifast technology.
The new Taxifast technology will enable us to process ‘Smart Cards’. This means that Taxifast will be providing a ‘Taxi Pay & Go Card’. These cards will be able to be purchased online and topped up at various pay points through the city. The technological advances made by Taxifast will see a revolutionary taxi booking scheme come into play known as “TEXT POINT”. In plain terms any place, venue, doorway, street corner in Plymouth can be allocated a Code Number. E.g. St Andrews Cross post office could be 1234. After you have registered your mobile phone with Taxifast, Taxifast will provide you with a template, you will call that up on your phone, enter the code for the pick up e.g. 1234. Your taxi will be on its way.
